    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I really enjoyed my time at Rolls-Royce Motor Cars and I felt as if it was beneficial for me in the long term. The job itself was diverse and interesting, and I enjoyed the freedom and challenges. Not quite the best job in the world, but certainly great for a placement year.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I had a fantastic relationship with my colleagues in Warranty, especially with my Manager. It's just a shame that I did not have a strong bond with the rest of the department. The "student" label, never made me feel valued to the extent I would have liked.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • As mentioned above, my manager and I got on really well so when I encountered a problem we could openly discuss it. He offered great guidance and support no matter what the problem.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • My workload varied on a day to day basis, but it was a controllable amount. Sometime I found myself wanting my responsibilities within the role as my confidence grew.

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • As I mentioned above, I feel as if I could have handled greater projects which required more responsibility but as a student I felt restricted.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • SAP is the main skill I can see as having the most impact in my CV. I have developed a lot fo skills on the system and how to get the most useful information out of the system for analysis purposes.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Really pleasent atmosphere, with plenty of windows and relaxing. Everyone tends to work quietly which makes it somewhat peaceful. It never feels tense or frantic.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • There was a real process in place by the HR Team, and the 2 week handover period was pretty seamless.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I never felt as if the company invested in me with money, since I wanted to continue my German studies but I was not permitted since I was not staying with the company. Alos, during my University ISP I was not given the possibility to visit any dealers. In terms of educating my in the role, my manager had invested a lot of tiem into me.

    3/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Flexi Time

    Subsidised/Company Gym

    Company Parties/Events

    3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I have had not had any job offers, but if I were to return to the company it is likely that I would be accepted.

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • We had formed a really good group of students, interns and apprentices who I became good friends with. We had quite a few group activities unaffiliated with work.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • The West Sussex area is generally quite expensive compared to most, and I am very aquainted with cheap student living so this was more expensive in comparison. There were things to do in Chichester, just not as much as a large city.

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • The nightlife was poor for a city, but chichester has strict rules on nightlife. The only close night club was a barn just outside Chichester. The positive side, is that Brighton and Portsmouth were both relatively close, but it made going out even more expensive.

    2/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • I did many activites with the friends I had made, but it is your standard afair material.

    4/5
