    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I found the placement experience very beneficial. No doubt all placements are good in ways, but the AgustaWestland placement was particularly good as it provided two placements, and thus developed a greater number of skills and enhanced exposure to various parts of the business. I feel that I have developed significantly as a result of the placement.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • 4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • During my time at AW I was valued by management, particularly in procurement where the emphasis was upon getting the very best for me- exposing me to as much variety as possible. There was a strong sense that AW were keen to impress and hoped to attract you back. Therefore any placement student could expect to feel valued and welcomed.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I am not overly proactive and so sometimes I had little to do. However the business would be willing to give as much work as you want- I suspect they don’t pile you with work for fear of overloading you.

    3/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given a significant amount of responsibility given my age and experience, singlehandedly producing the reporting suites for a number of aircraft contracts in my first placement. In my second I was one of the sole points of contact for a few projects. Furthermore, you could seek as much as you wanted.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The atmosphere in my first placement was fantastic with a really fun group of people!

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • 4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • There were a great deal of training courses offered, however I was unable to get onto any of the courses

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Flexi Time

    National Travel

    International Travel

    Company Parties/Events

    Staff Sales/Staff Shop

    4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • The post graduate scheme seems excellent!

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • 5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • 4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • 4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Yeovil has a variety of things to do, and is in a reasonable location for other places e.g. the coast as well as Bristol, Bath and Exeter. AW also provide the opportunity to get involved in a scheme that involves teaching local school children about flight.
