The Role
I found the placement experience very beneficial. No doubt all placements are good in ways, but the AgustaWestland placement was particularly good as it provided two placements, and thus developed a greater number of skills and enhanced exposure to various parts of the business. I feel that I have developed significantly as a result of the placement.
During my time at AW I was valued by management, particularly in procurement where the emphasis was upon getting the very best for me- exposing me to as much variety as possible. There was a strong sense that AW were keen to impress and hoped to attract you back. Therefore any placement student could expect to feel valued and welcomed.
I am not overly proactive and so sometimes I had little to do. However the business would be willing to give as much work as you want- I suspect they don’t pile you with work for fear of overloading you.
I was given a significant amount of responsibility given my age and experience, singlehandedly producing the reporting suites for a number of aircraft contracts in my first placement. In my second I was one of the sole points of contact for a few projects. Furthermore, you could seek as much as you wanted.
The Company
The atmosphere in my first placement was fantastic with a really fun group of people!
There were a great deal of training courses offered, however I was unable to get onto any of the courses

The post graduate scheme seems excellent!
The Culture
Yeovil has a variety of things to do, and is in a reasonable location for other places e.g. the coast as well as Bristol, Bath and Exeter. AW also provide the opportunity to get involved in a scheme that involves teaching local school children about flight.
