    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • The role was very demanding and required me to constantly be on the ball and attentive. Sometimes I did struggle with keeping up with tasks but I was helped out and suggested new techniques to help manage my time. My supervisor was excellent and would often help me out when she saw I was struggling so I definitely didn't have to struggle.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I definitely felt valued by my colleagues. Within the team I was working with everybody had their role in the chain line to make sure that everything went smoothly on a day to day basis ..

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • My supervisor was terrific. She taught me excellent tips and techniques and gave additional training which helped me improve my performance as a lot of my job involved gaining business development and a lot of client and customer care therefore highest level of professionalism was essential.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • My days were very busy and at first I was feeling inundated. But my after some more training and targeted coaching I picked up speed and began to self organise. My day to day plan was well explained and I knew what priorities were on a day to day.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I believe I was given a healthy amount of responsibility. Although I was a placement student I was never treated as "just the placement student". As mentioned everybody in the team had their function including myself in order to maintain the smooth running of the VMS team function therefore I definitely felt valued.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Organisation, time management, analytical skills, people management and written and communication skills.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The atmosphere in the office was good. There was good banter amongst teams and it was extremely focussed and target driven when it needed to be.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • It was very well organised. I had 2 weeks training on the "academy" (training) at the beginning with other new starters (not only placements) so that way I didn't go into the organisation knowing nobody and I continued to have training at intervals through the year. I also had reviews each month as did other consultants. As part of my placement I had a review at 4, 8, 12 weeks and 6 months mid placement review which is really helpful so you can look on your own performance introspectively.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I had a lot of training within the same office and in another office. I feel the investment on training was definitely beneficial.

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Financial Bonus

    Company Parties/Events

    Healthcare from home

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I would love to return to work for Hay. Excellent company to work for and the people are great. Perhaps a role in a different capacity to my previous role.

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Yes there was. When I started there was other student coming up to the end of their placement and I also had 2 other placement students starting the same time as me that I got to mingle with.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • I live in London so I am used to the London commuter costs. London especially central London is quite expensive

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Good..

    4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Yep there were outside work events going on nearly every fortnight from football, pub quizzes, laser tag, up at the o2, comedy night, roller disco. You can also make suggestions if you have something in mind.
