  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Fantastic placement with lots of opportunities to further develop yourself professionally. With an Internal Professional Development Manager assigned to each intern.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • It is a corporate environment, but on the whole everybody was incredibly friendly and helpful. Great sense of community between the Interns, as well as a feeling of value from senior management.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Each intern is assigned a Task Manager and a Professional Development. Their programme operates to get the most out of their interns but for the interns to get the most out of their experience.

  • There were incredibly busy periods which required long hours, and other periods off peak which were normal working hours (9-5).

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was part of a two-man team and had responsibility for sales and budgets. Very hands on!

  • Everyone was commented on the fact that IBM is on my CV!

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • IBM are favourable of home working, so I wasn't always in an office environement, but when I was it was quiet.

  • Very well structured with clear instruction throughout.

  • Completely! With 2, 4, 6 and 12 month reviews.

  • A great company, but my professional area in events isn't available as a graduate and with very limited marketing places also.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • I was in a remote location, with home working and part of a very small scene, so I missed out on a lot of the social scene after the first couple of months. My role was also very demanding to meet the needs of the business.

  • Rarely socialised in the local area, but it was average when I did.

  • No nightlife in my location.

  • Opportunities were advertised but none which took my fancy.
