    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • My placement year was brilliant! There was a huge amount of information to take in, but also a lot of help there for the taking. I definitely enjoyed my year, and you really do get out what you put in.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • On my placement year I had a lot of responsibilities, 'real jobs' and reports to do, many of which were distributed throughout the company, which helped me to feel valued not only by my direct colleagues, but also those in the wider business.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • As a part of a relatively small team, I was made to feel like a real member of the team and took guidance from not only my direct supervisor, but others in the team too. This showed that the whole team cared about the intern, as they really do contribute to the team.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • NEVER a quiet moment. Relish in your first couple of weeks when you're slowly getting to grips. It won't slow down again until you finish - which will come around a lot quicker than expected!

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given a lot of responsibility, but then again I also asked to be given more tasks/responsibilities. Again, you get out of it what you put in. If you want responsibility and show that you can handle it, they'll always try to give you more.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • From understanding how to work within a business place, the computer and excel skills, everything has come in handy for me since leaving Hyundai. Not only with my dissertation and final year studies at Uni, by being able to relate theories back to 'real life' examples from placement, but I'm certain that this placement and what I learnt during it played a huge part in me successfully getting a graduate scheme.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Generally quite informal, especially within the individual teams. Open plan offices made it more comfortable when engaging with senior managers, and helped to build relationships with members of other departments.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Very well - I was involved in what was happening from the start. Everyone understood why you were there, and were more than happy to help.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Within a month I had already been on two Excel courses, which really helped me make the most of my time at Hyundai. Also, throughout the placement there was endless investment regarding people's time.

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Company Car

    4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • If I hadn't already been offered a graduate scheme, and a role at Hyundai came up, it would be very tempting!

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • There is a small group of interns, around 5, so it really does depend on who you get.

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Depends where you're used to! Wycombe isn't a great deal cheaper when it comes to renting rooms than London, as it is a definite commuter town.

    4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Although it is a university town, Wycombe is pretty poor for nightlife. There are a handful of decent pubs, a couple of Wetherspoons' and a Yates. If you want much else, go to Beaconsfield or London.

    2/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There's quite a lot going on in Wycombe and surrounding areas if you're into sport, but you'd need a car really.

    4/5
