The Role
Fantastic culture, all about a team ethos at Mars.
If you are willing to take the time to build strong relationships at the beginning you'll become very close to the team very quickly.
You are given a line manager during the internship and they support you through the whole process, they assess and help you improve your personal development during the course of the internship.
That Mars is an FMCG work loads can change relatively quickly however they strive to make sure you are not overworked. I.e. if you are consistently working late they will look to spread your workload across the team.
Responsibility is one of Mars' principles and they definitely stick to it. I led a project to save Mars associates 9 days of work a year. They give you a lot of responsibility, support you but then want to assess if you can handle the pressure.
It has helped in terms of efficiency when using my time, also it has improved how I build working relationships to create collaborative partnerships.
The Company
People work hard but they have a laugh while doing so.
Very strong for personal development, support and team bonding. A few times there was a lack of clarity regarding moving onto the graduate scheme but things were cleared up relatively quickly.
I was impressed how much they were willing to teach me and take the time out to develop me. Once on their grad scheme they will save no expense to develop you into a future leader.
Subsidised Canteen
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
Got the grad scheme, intership seemed to go well.
The Culture
Great bunch, very ambitious but supportive and that led us to be very sociable as well as collaborative with work.
I'm a student nearby so living in the student area was very cheap.
Mars run loads of extra curricular activities e.g. sports days BBQ's etc.
