    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • First 6 months very slow and not what was expecting as an engineering student. The company suites to office way of life and analyst skills only seem envolve maths as a statistical skill requirement. Not the place to be for a hands on person / hands dirty person.

    3/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Again my team kept to themselves, I worked along a second team in the new year and enjoyed it much more and felt valued with them. Overall neutral.

    2/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • For general things, Dstl have issues with management and guidance and set up of new workers not only for placement students but company wide. My personal project supervisor at the end for last few months was great, its down to luck.

    3/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • First six months very slow. I never had a point where I had no work however.

    3/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • Neutral, you can choose how much much of a project you wish to be responsible for.

    3/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I personally felt very little was learnt in terms of actual skills for my degree or modules when returning but it did help report writing formatting to save me some time. I know more about myself and know office life is not for me which is useful.

    1/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Office environment, people look to the weekend everyday.

    1/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Had an initial set up project upon arrival.

    3/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I recieved no training at all.

    0/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • 4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I would consider working in a different field with the company, but not an office based job.

    1/5

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • If you are sociable (?)

    3/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Average pricing

    3/5
