    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • The placement was very fast paced.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Staffs were all friendly. But you were sometimes seen as the person to do the job they didn’t want to.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Managers were always willing to help, but you did have to ask for it.

  • Very busy, but meant you received actual work!

  • Worked directly with customers and suppliers, and was trusted to make decisions on my own.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • You can never learn to much about MS Excel !

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Everyone in the office was busy!

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The placement was well structured (where you would work, two 6 months rotations). But the work you would do within that role, often wasn’t. However part of this was due to needs changing.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • If you needed it to do your job, you got it! If you just wanted to do it...you asked the right person nicely.

  • My current grad scheme has been temporarily suspended.

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Very interactive bunch.

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Accommodation is much less and much nicer than at Uni. Price of a pint is not student friendly!

  • There was nightlife.....it was interesting to say the least!

  • Limited opportunities that came about through work.
