    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?

    • I really enjoyed my time i spent with BDO, i learnt a lot about accountancy and the company as well.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?

    • Throughout my whole time during the placement I felt valued and everyone was always more than happy to help, everyone treated everybody else equally as well.

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?

    • During my placement I recieved guidance on how to complete each of th tasks that I was given, and whenever I needed any help there were plently of people who were more than happy to help.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?

    • I think that I have learnt a lot of skills that will help me in future as well as gaining an insight into what a career in accountancy would be like.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?

    • The two week programme had a good structure to it. We all got a chance to visit the Birmingham and London offices within the two weeks.

    • Everyone was very friendly and more than happy to help you.

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?

    • I was shown how to carry out each job i'd been given to do properly and if I was ever confused someone was more than happy to go through it with me.

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?

    • By spending two weeks with BDO I feel like I have learnt a lot about what it would be like if I were to have a full time job with them.

    • Whilst being at BDO the company culture was very apparent.

    • The two weeks have made me sure that a career in accountancy is for me, and the skills I have learnt will enable me with pursuing this career.

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?

    • BDO were happy to reimburse travel expenses and pay us for our time with them.

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?

    • Yes, During the two weeks I was able to get to know the others on the summer school scheme as well as people in my office.

    • There were social oppurtunities and during my two weeks we went out for lunch twice, this gave us a chance to get to know one another.

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?

    • I was made aware of a few activities that would I would be able to take part in if I were to join BDO as a full time employee

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?

    • I would definitely recommend the Summer School Scheme to others, as I think that it gives you a great insight to not only the firm but also what a career in accountacy would be like.
