    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Highly enjoyable; looked forward to going into work everyday into a happy environment.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • They never made me feel invaluable or less than what I was. The warm welcome I received when I first began the year was better than I could have imagined and they all continued to be a great support on a professionally and personal level.

  • Always given direction ad support to make the most out of the year to benefit myself and them as a team.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • As someone who enjoys being busy there was no shortages of jobs or responsibilities to be carried out; inevitably some hays were busier than others but I always felt like I could manage my own time and spread my jobs out. There were few occasions when I would have to arrive earlier/stay late.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • A huge factor of the year was the fact I was given so much responsibility and nevertheless thrived from this and the feeling of being vaulted and trusted within the team.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • It has put my degree studies truly into practice and I feel a huge sense of understanding about the food manufacturing industry. My personal skills have improved including my literacy, numeracy and communication skills. I now feel much more confident to apply for jobs and go into new businesses as a professional.

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Very friendly and unintimidating. Sometimes very quiet.

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Incredibly well organised and throughout - much more accommodating than I could have wished for. I had set objectives to work through the year with appraisals to keep me up to date with my progress.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • They had this always in mind and seemed to not only train me for their purposes but also to improve my development. I took a lot of training when I initially began the year, I would not however of expected more from them in this area as it was down to me personally to develop my training throughout the process.
