The Role
Loads of fun- its not just work but activities such as track days, undergraduate projects with local schools and being able to help run a 'Bigger Picture' event to learn about what other undergraduate roles her involve
Very- people always say thank you for a job well done. There is a chance to present a 'Who Am I' to top level management at different points during the year which is a great chance to let them know everything you've been working on and get some feedback
I had weekly catch up meetings with my manager, so we were both always up to date with the various project and a one on one chance to ask any questions or speak about anything else, such as other projects which I wanted to be able to get involved with. We also had CAP objectives for the year to work towards, so I knew what my goals were
I was kept very busy so it was never boring!
By the second half of my placement year I was given a chance to create briefs and see them through from start to finish. I had a lot of say in what happened on the website, and felt my opinions and ideas were really valued
I have been able to learn plenty of transferable skills- time management, project management, increased confidence etc which will go a long way to helping me with my future career
The Company
The team are all great fun here, and because there are so many undergraduates there is always someone to talk to, spend lunch breaks with etc.
We had 2 open days to meet everyone and find accommodation, then a 2 week handover period to be trained up- along with plenty of social activities to get to know everyone!
We had lots of different training- presentation skills, 2 Excel workshops and a range of e learning as well as on the job training. Everyone always has time to answer any questions you have too
Subsidised/Company Gym
Working from home
The Culture
There are plenty of nights out for Birthdays etc, and because we all live so close together we have been able to have BBQs, go bowling and all sorts of other things- it's never boring
Compared to the cost of rent for my University accommodation this year was much cheaper
Close to London and Watford for a good night out, but with plenty of us to go out anywhere could be fun!
On top of the usual work projects there is an undergraduate community project with the local schools, and I was also able to attend an AutoTrader conference event which was really interesting
