The Role
I really enjoyed my placement at Vauxhall. Not only was the work aspect of the placement brillaint but they made sure there was a good social side to it too.
Towards the end of the placement I felt more like a full time employee than an undergradute which was a great feeling
I did spend some of my placement without a direct manager for different reasons but when I did have a manager he made sure I was always busy and looked to harness my strengths
As with any jobs there were some days I was not busy however if I was ever without a task I would find one myself or my manager would.
Throughout the placement I was given more and more responisbility after I had proved each time I could handle it.
Although I did not develope any skills that could directly affect my course or modules it was the soft skills that I gained that were invaluable
The Company
There was a good sense of banter however the work ethic was high
As the placement scheme has run for many years it is pretty good and they are always asking the undergraduates what they can do to improve it
We recieved a lot of training including training not relevant to our job role but somethings we could take back to uni.
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
Financial Bonus
There is a graduate scheme at Vauxhall
The Culture
Vauxhall spend the first 2 and last 2 weeks socialising
Luton is a very cheap place to live.
Was ok, I am from Bristol which is brillaint but it was not too bad, easy access to other towns and cities
Vauxhall organise lots of events including chartiy events we can get involved in
