    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • It was a good work placement with a good level of responsibility, although at times workload was too low.

    3/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • The role is not just there for people to give things tehy don't want to do, tasks are given based on helping me learn, whilst helping the company.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • A decent level of support was given, the feeling was that the support was there if I needed/wanted it, otherwise they were happy to let me get on with tasks by myself, reviewing them at the end.

    3/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • In general a decent amount of work, however it tended to come in waves of lots of work then not a lot of work, however over the year it averaged out at a good enough level.

    3/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • Responsibilities involved creating charts used by GM Europe to get the optimum price for vehicles, which was important to get correct as lots of senior staff saw and acted on my charts.

    3/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Skills developed will really help me in the future, as will the general experience gained as I had no insight into an office environment before coming here and now have a good understanding and a good array of skills to take elsewhere.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Lively office environment within the area I sat, also the amount of undergrads helped to add to a nice environment for placement students.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Solid structure, in particular with the 2-week handover period with director persentations and big social schedule, also housing was provided (at a fee) to employees needing it.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • There were a few training courses availlable throughout the year, along with 3 presentations to senior staff in your department based on personal development.

    3/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Subsidised Canteen

    Company Parties/Events

  • Next to no chance of getting a grad job.

    1/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • A solid number of students made for a good social scene both during work and after work.

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Fairly standard, have student nights but also can be expensive if you go out on bank holidays/nye/xmas eve etc.

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Luton is average at best but St. Albans is good, Watford is also good, not far from London.

    3/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Probably are if you look for them, but I didn't look for them, bar playing football.
