    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • This was an amazing placement. I was given so many opportunities to get involved in various tasks. I also found that once your manager sees what you are capable of, they will give you lots more responsibilities.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • My colleagues in the office were all very friendly and willing to help me in any way possible. They were also very interested in me and my university studies.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I had a mentor throughout my placement year who was very helpful in terms of getting me prepared for final year of Uni. My manager was also very supportive despite being very busy in his leadership role he always found time to help me.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Super super busy- but I like to keep busy all the time so this suited me.

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • After the first few weeks of placement I was given lots of responsibility as my manager said he trusted me and thought I was capable. By the end of placement I had my own projects running around Europe.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I really have learnt so much on my placement year; so much more than what I did in my first 2 years of university. I really would recommend a placement year to any student- you gain invaluable experience with the hope of getting a job with that company again after you graduate.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • My office was really small, so there wasn't much of an atmosphere. Plus most people in the office, including myself had european based roles so i found we were always on the telephone to our european colleagues. However everyone was really friendly and you knew you could approach anybody for a chat.

    3/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The placement was put together very well- each student was assigned to a mentor for support. There were also regular reviews of progress and goal setting.

    3/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • There was lots of training available in the company, both online and classroom based. You could join as many training as you wanted.

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Working from home

    3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Very appealing! I would jump at the chance to work for this company again!

    3/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • I was the only placement student in my office, but this did not bother me. I think it put me at more of an advantage as I was given a lot more responsibilities and opportunities. In the Opel/vauxhall office there were around 100 placement students, so if you did want to join them on nights out you were more than welcome.

    3/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Bracknell is really expensive to live and not the best place to socialise. However there are cool places nearby for a good night out, reading and Windsor!

    2/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Absolutely nothing in Bracknell! But good places nearby like Windsor and Reading, also a short train journey into London .

    1/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Only the opportunities you made for yourself- arranging office nights out.

    3/5
