About You
Enjoyable 2 weeks with passionate, similar-minded people.
The atmosphere was very relaxing. Good interaction between employees and interns and amongst the interns themselves. There was time at the start to get to know each other. Working in different groups with tasks was valuable.
Great support and everyone really took the time to answer questions in an enthusiastic way. The workers showed their passion for their work but were also honest and reflective on what they could have done better. Great opportunities for the interns to learn.
After only a week of preparation, being able to stand up in front of a classroom was surprisingly easy and very enjoyable. This experience requires some courage but increases your confidence enormously.
The Company
Well structured days in general, but a day of observations in the school before planning our lessons would have been very useful. Also, having a weekend break in between was a bit long. I would prefer only one day break in the middle and then get on with it.
The atmosphere was great. Especially with the 15 or so interns in the accomodation. Although, everyone was really serious about the internship and we spend most evenings preparing work together,
Teach First gave us a lot of training before allowing us to present them in the schools after one week. This made us feel part of the company.
Especially talking to full-time Teach First teachers in the schools was incredibly useful.
Every school is different but the immense Teach First support will always be the same wherever you will be going.
Very, I learned a lot about what Teach First stands for and am really excited to become an Ambassador myself.
Everything Else
Accomodation provided as well.
Plenty of opportunities to ask questions and have a chat. Great opportunity to learn more.
Especially at the start of the programme, after that it helped us to work together effectively.
Talking to current employees about their lives outside of work served this purpose. They gave some great tips on life and work balance as well.
If you are passionate about teaching and Teach First, this is a great opportunity. You will leave with a lot more confidence and a belief in what you want to do.
