About You
I thought this was a brilliant introduction to Teach First & teaching in general.
The team in charge were really welcoming and fostered a friendly atmosphere throughout our 10 days
The programme began with 3 days of preparation & training for the classroom which effectively dispersed of any worries we had about going into the classroom.
This programme made me sure that I would like to go into teaching & offered a route into initial teaching training. Doing their Assessment Centre also provided valuable job interview skills and experience.
The Company
There were a few minor quibbles, issues with miscommunication between Teach First & the schools but, given that this was their first year running Insight in Manchester, that was to be expected & I'm sure it'll be addressed for the future.
I had been initially nervous about taking part in this programme - meeting new people, working in an unfamiliar school - but the atmosphere was great during the training and we were made to feel welcome at our placement school as well.
I came away from the programme absolutely certain that I wanted to go into teaching, it was a great insight into Teach First and teaching in general
Everything Else
There were loads of opportunities to talk to the team (all of whom had done Teach First's Leadership Development Programme) about their experiences in schools & with Teach First.
Most of the students on the programme were living together in (excellent) accommodation and we all got along really well.
I would definitely recommend it to anyone who is interested in education & teaching!
