About You
Really enjoyable, made me realise I definitely want to do Teach First
Everyone was really friendly and made me feel welcome in all the training sessions. When we went into schools the teacher who was supervising us really helped us integrate into the school.
It was all timetabled so we knew exactly what we'd be doing and when.
Managing behaviour! Number one skill learnt - not only useful for the classroom but everyday life when working with teams.
The Company
Generally things ran very well
Excellent. A really good environment was created and the other interns also helped provide this too as my group going into the school was really good.
We spent a whole week training before going into schools. They set up lots of different sessions to make sure we were prepared.
Not only did we get training but a chance to put these skills into practice in a school, actually teaching lessons in a way you'd do if you actually did Teach First.
They explained to us all about what you get being part of Teach First and this was evident from everyone we met.
It really showed what you would do.
Everything Else
Just expenses but these were generous enough. £10 a day for food and so on and travel. They are a charity so did not expect ot get paid.
Lots of opportunity for meeting Teach First ambassadors and teachers along with staff.
They were provided during training but also at the school we got to meet other teachers in the school multiple times out of hours even though we were only there for 4 days!
It really depends on the school you're placed in and your initiative but essentially there are no boundaries, it's up to you.
Definitely if they were thinking about Teach First.
