The Role
In my role, I had a number of responsibilities which varied from assisting with office work to event support when at live sporting events. I relished this role because no day was the same which motivated me.
Everyone in the team were more than just colleagues, but friends. This made the placement experience so much more enjoyable, as well as motivating me to be the best of my potential in the role.
I would constantly receive feedback from my supervisor on the work I was doing. This helped me to develop my skills as well as identifying where there were areas for improvement.
The job role was very demanding, especially when on the live events. However, this suits my personality because I believed I handled this well, and was able to complete the tasks I was appointed on time.
There was a great deal of responsibility allocated to everyone in the team. When at the events, everyone was responsible for certain federations, thus meaning that I had to make decisions regarding communicating with people and liaising with the athletes and officials.
I have learnt an array of lucrative skills whilst on placement. Mostly I have developed my organisational, communication and team working abilities. These are skills that are extremely valuable to me now, as I can prove through my placement that I have shown these as well as presenting them in future career prospects.
The Company
I have been asked to support them on events that they hold. As I am still at university, a full time position with the company is not currently feasible. However, I would certainly apply for a role in the company once I graduate
The Culture
There were 3 of us on placement at Sportworks, where we were all friends and still keep in touch now
Expenses paid when at events. Stay at home when at the company
I stayed in Sheffield where I attend university. The nightlife is second to none (in my opinion)
During the events, we would meet as a team in the evenings so socialise and relax after the long and busy days
