    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I really enjoyed my placement so much that I applied for the graduate scheme with the company and was offered a place. I am really looking forward to working for edf-energy full time after a year in the nuclear industry.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • It took very little time to get to know everyone in the group and everyone made an effort to get to know me, right from the start.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • My supervisor and manager really welcomed me into the group and gave me lots of tours when I started which meant that I was able to be left alone fairly early on. They were also always really helpful when I asked questions and needed support.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I would say initially the workload was quite low while I was learning how the station was run, hence why the score is low, however the work load really increased throughout the year so that I had a great balance by the end.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given the opportunity to run an area of the group which is the role of a qualified engineer and requires work to be produced on a regular basis to a strict deadline for an external agency, as well as my other work so I couldnt really have asked for more responsibility.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I will use the people skills I developed for the rest of my career, and the computer skills I learnt will come in very handy at university.

    4/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Everyone was always friendly however there was always a good level of professionalism.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • I would say initially not much planning had been put into the work I would undertake throughout my year, however I believe I was the first placement student my group had had for a while, so now I think the placement would be more structured.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I was enrolled on so many course and training sessions, I would say a lot of time and money was invested in me which I really appreciated and made me feel like a member of staff.
