Role Description

Facilitate the progress of individual projects and bring them into the scope of the overall work of the department.

1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?

Good internship. I learnt a lot from the people around me which has helped me secure a position with another organisation.

2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?

The team around me were brilliant. Really welcoming and valued my input.

7/10

3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?

Management gave me some great support and helped me develop crucial 'office environment' skills.

8/10

4. How busy were you on a daily basis?

At times I did get bored with some of the mundane tasks, however, I think this is to be found in many jobs.

5/10

5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?

I took ownership of my role. The position was new to the department so I had an opportunity to build the role and take responsibility for it.

8/10

6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?

I think if I hadn't taken this role on I wouldn't be moving on to a position on my desired career path. The skills have been crucial in continual personal development.

The Organisation

7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?

Good atmosphere. Friendly environment established by the company.

8/10

8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?

Well organised, however, it would have been nice to have had a formal introduction to the business as a whole.

5/10

9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?

No training officially invested in me. That's quite a large expectation given I was only an intern.

1/10

10. What were the perks on your work placement?

  • Staff Sales/Staff Shop
  • Above 25 days holiday
4/10

11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?

They promote a lot internally. Always new position opening up. You just have to find something you want to do.

5/10

Social

12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?

My intern colleagues were not outgoing so didn't communicate with them outside of the office. They were nice chatting at work though.

2/10

13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?

Very expensive area of the UK. After spending money on costs of living, there was little left in the bank for enjoyment.

2/10

14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?

None, small town with pubs only. London is about 40 mins away though.

1/10

15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?

They do a lot of charity work, so if you want to get involved you can do. I enjoyed it when I got involved.
