    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • The people were very friendly, approachable and helpful. The work was interesting and enjoyable It was quite high pressure as the two weeks could be related to

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Everyone was very nice and open to discussing or explaining things to me, however I did find there was not that much variert of work which my inexperience as a non-lawyer permitted me to do.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Quite a lot, particularly in terms of asking people to explain things to me. Sometimes though I was left with no work, but it usually turned up after asking people.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Sometimes there was not enough work for me to do, but other than these occasional times I was kept just the right degree of busy. Presentations in the money gave good structure to then join the practise for the rest of the day. I did find that I would generally be leaving the office at 6-7pm.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • As much as I could be I think given that I am a non-lawyer and lack experience, but more would have been good.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • A lot, particularly in terms of the first hand experience of working at a commercial law firm

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Lovely atmosphere, friendly, approachable, everybody gets along and great atmosphere

  • Very well organised

  • There were sessions on IT training which were useful

  • Subsidised Canteen

  • Very appealing. Time within the firm proved to me I would be happy to work here.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Everybody got along really well. There were two social events which were well organised and enjoyable

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Expensive as it is London - but luckily I had somewhere else to stay

  • Didnt experience it really

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • None emerged to me in the two weeks, although this wasnt a problem in such a short period of time.
