    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
  • I completed training sessions and practice group overviews in the mornings and in the afternoons I sat in TMT/IP doing work for trainees, associates, managing associates and partners as needed. I also attended group training sessions and international meetings with other offices, clients and other parties, and I completed weekly assignments as part of my assessment.

    Business Insight

  • 3. What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
  • It was very interesting and gave me a true insight into the nitty gritty reality of being a solicitor - things like billable hours, client relationships and the benefits of the lockstep approach helped me understand the culture and strategy of the firm and helped me ascertain how well I would fit into this environment.

    Culture

  • 4. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • Very collegiate, friendly and inclusive. I see a strong focus on feedback, learning and development and diversity and inclusion. I also see a strong business focus on the profit of the firm and putting our clients at the centre of everything we do, which naturally brings high expectations to solicitors in terms of how hard they work, especially during busy periods. There is still a positive culture even when the team is in crisis management because the team all trust and value on another.

    Your Impressions

  • 5. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • I enjoyed it a lot. It was certainly stressful and overwhelming at times, but I had a great time learning about the firm, the law and the different practice groups I could move into. I also enjoyed learning about everyone's personal journey that led them to Linklaters, and what motivates them to come into work every day.
