  • 1. Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
  • My day was a mix of graduate recruitment practice overview sessions, project work and work for my principal. There were lots of networking opportunities, coffee chats/lunches and two evening socials.

  • I have learnt how to work effectively in an office environment, communicating with others under pressure. I have developed my time management, organisation, confidence and analytical ability.

    Business Insight

  • 3. What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
  • We received dedicated talks on training contract applications and interviews. I learnt about the firm’s different practice areas and overall structure, and the possible qualification options. There were discussions on the SQE, PGDL, secondments and training.

    Culture

  • 4. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • The culture was on the whole very diverse, welcoming and inclusive. The team which I was sat in was perhaps less diverse than my vacation scheme cohort but I had a very enthusiastic and supportive principal and trainee buddy.

    Your Impressions

  • 5. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • I highly enjoyed the insight. It was definitely stressful at times but I was able to meet so many incredible people and learn more about the firm. The two weeks were very productive - I never felt bored.

  • 8. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Linklaters
  • Make sure to research the firm in detail and practice for the Watson Glaser test. Try to attend campus events or firm open days to gain a better insight and evidence your interest in the vacation scheme/ training contract. Take active steps to expand your commercial awareness and knowledge of corporate transactions.
