    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • HTML and CSS coding to create a fully functioning website to the specifications of the team. Overall administrative and self-managing responsibility to respond to amendments and progression reliably and punctually within the project. Photo, video, and audio editing of hundreds of metadata, including transcribing and formatting written notes from screenplays and interviews.

    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • Developed photo, video, and audio editing skills tremendously. Developed my attention to detail through the clear specifications i've been given at numerous points in the internship. Developed my html and css coding and used what I had learnt in other university projects. Learnt how to use Adobe software for more than just video editing, and learnt how to understand a specification of a project.

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • I was given responsibility and trust in creating the metadata, correctly labelling them and formatting them in a way that would not require much peer-reviewing. Attention to detail was crucial in making sure everything was spelt correctly, links were working properly and the webpages all sat as they should. Towards the end of the project, many small details were up to me to adjust and finalise.

    Support & Guidance

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • My supervisor was also my university lecturer, and although we never spoke about work outside of class, it was a great help knowing he was a familiar face. Reaching out for help when I didn't know how to approach a project or understand a job was easy as everyone in the team was as eager to help as to be educated and we all learnt from each other.
