  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • My role was improving part of the research workflow for Quants, in order to, reduce wasted time/effort. As a result, increasing research output.

  • Collaboration with multiple teams. Leading a project that involved multiple teams. Docker & Kubernetes. Scala & Spark. Python.

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • I was given a lot of responsibility to direct the project in the best way I saw fit, with help from a mentor and other colleagues. I was responsible for justifying design decisions and collaborating with appropriate teams to reach the best result possible.

    Support & Guidance

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • I received a lot of support/guidance from my mentor and other team members, which was great. However, there could be a bit more support at the start on all the different in-house systems that you will need to use (this can be project specific though so might be hard to do in practice).

    Culture

  • 5. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • In Engineering, the culture was very collaborative and open, with everyone very willing to help. People worked hard but the culture was very relaxed and had a good work-life balance!

  • 8. What advice would you give to others applying to G-Research
  • Try to justify why you are doing/have done certain things in technical/behavioural interviews, as this shows you have thought about the solution and any possible trade offs. Try to do some group projects as these show you can work in a collaborative environment.
