    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • I supported the talent development team by liaising with external training vendors, responding to employee queries and managing the online ticket queue. I also scheduled coaching and training sessions as well as assigning online learning licenses. For the Core HR team, my administrative responsibilities included monitoring candidates' background screening process. I mostly worked on projects - for example as writing a benefit query FAQ page and creating a team performance dashboard.

    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • I greatly developed my organisation skills as these were essential to stay on top of all my responsibilities. I learnt the new skill of professional communication - both through emails and in meetings. I became upskilled in various HR systems and technical platforms, such as Workday, DocuSign, Excel, Webex, Tableau and the company performance management tool. I was also given the opportunity to attend training to develop my presentation skills.

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • Yes, during my placement I felt like a full time member of my team. I was trusted with important projects and communicating with senior members of the company, which helped me gain confidence. I appreciated that my managers supported me and gave me space to make my own decisions and mistakes.

    Support & Guidance

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • I felt very supported throughout the entire placement experience. I had weekly check-ins with my manager alongside monthly check-ins with the intern recruiter. My team members were also great at guiding me and answering all my questions. Ultimately, if I were to have any issues - there were sufficient people to seek help from. There were also numerous trainings throughout the year designed to support the intern cohort.

  • 5. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • I really liked the ambitious company culture. As an intern, it was motivating to be surrounded by such high-achieving individuals. The company hosted numerous social events, such as monthly drinks and a great series of speaker events. The only downside to mention is the company's male:female ratio.
