    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • Joined the team working on major aviation project (CPK Warsaw). Worked with all departments, particularly risk and reporting, formatting dashboards and spreadsheets to be updated and presented on a weekly basis. Attended regular weekly meetings, interacted with each consultant on project. Formatted risk dashboard using Microsoft Power BI.

  • Developed my existing skills on Microsoft Excel and Powerpoint, as well as gained new skill in using Power BI, learning to transform and format data into live charts and interactive dashboards, to be used laterally by clients on my project.

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • Yes, the work I was given was to be presented to each consultant on project, and this work all had an attached deadline. There was a learning process to the job, which presented a challenge, however I was allowed access to speak with Operations Directors and Managers alike to help overcome these challenges.

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • I received plenty of support during my internship. My line manager would check in with me on a daily basis, as well as my mentor and work buddy having weekly/bi-weekly check-ins with me to ensure I was getting the most out of my experience.

    Culture

  • 5. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • The company culture was healthy, the team I was assigned to work with ensured that I felt comfortable to ask questions, whether difficult or simple. I was also made to feel as if I had the capacity to be myself, which made settling in to the work environment a much easier experience.

  • 6. To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
  • I enjoyed my experience as a whole. It was a good learning experience, not only in terms of learning to use different programs, but also understanding the fundamentals of work culture in a healthy space.

  • 8. What advice would you give to others applying to Mace
  • Be open to the experience, working in a construction environment does not essentially require direct experience in the industry. Construction and consultancy is a growing industry, and one that can provide a good sense of fulfilment for those new to the industry, which is rare in other areas.
