    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
  • The Vacation Scheme involved a mix of centrally organised case studies and projects by Graduate Recruitment, as well as time spent with an associate in a Linklaters practice group, where tasks would be set on an ad-hoc basis based on business need. On a day to day, I would attend a mix of coffee chats and centrally organised sessions by graduate recruitment. I would then also sit in my team on any client meetings or advisor calls.

    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Yes. I have developed my understanding of insolvency and restructuring law. It was particularly interesting to attend calls with other advisors and prayers, where specialists gave presentations on deals from many perspectives. Furthermore, I developed a deeper skills in teamwork through the client pitch and, and time-management, especially as there were a large range of matters that my principal and trainee buddy worked on. My abilities to conduct research effectively were also developed through doing financial debt research in the client pitch.
