    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • Assisting and shadowing senior project managers and their teams in their day-to-day roles. Everyday was different but often included meetings with the client and/or project team, site visits and admin. Actual responsibility was limited due to the client facing nature of the job, however I was often given the opportunity to have a go at certain tasks and received appropriate feedback helping me to develop my skills.

    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • Communication, organisation and problem-solving, all central to project management, are the key skills I feel like I have developed over the past few weeks. Everyday you are interacting with clients and other members of the project team therefore being able to communicate effectively and clearly is crucial. Additionally, organizing and prioritizing certain tasks that shape a project is key to success, therefore my time as an intern has really allowed me to build on these skills.

  • Given the client facing nature of project management I was somewhat limited in how much responsibility I could be given as an intern. However, I was given the opportunity to complete certain tasks such as taking meeting minutes and completing spreadsheets, all of which increased my knowledge of the industry.

  • 8. What advice would you give to others applying to Cushman & Wakefield
  • Do your research for the application process and interview but don't get too stressed out about it. You will do better in the interview if you are relaxed and treat it more like a conversation with professionals in the industry. Ultimately, as much as they are assessing you in the application process, you are also gaging whether you think the company and profession is right for you.
