    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • Updating financial summary trackers weekly. Liaising with project managers and resources to update forecasts and rates in Financial Workbooks (FWBs) to establish accurate GP%. Liaising with clients to obtain purchase orders. Liaising with internal finance team to check time sheets and seek approval from clients for invoicing. Liaising with clients to ensure invoices sent by IBM are accurate and paid on time. Updating our internal finance team with our current financial position (purchase orders, invoicing, extensions, and future opportunities) through weekly calls. Delivering high-level presentations fortnightly with senior partners and project managers to outline our current and future financial position (signings, portfolio GP% and quarterly revenue). Reviewing contracts, seeking commercial approval, and liaising with partners ad clients to ensure contracts are signed on time. Using a combination of IBM and DWP platforms/tools to price contracts, seek approval, check/accept/receive contracts, and internally load contracts with our contract registration team.

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • A significant amount of responsibility. Mainly an independent role where you are depended upon to perform your responsibilities and other tasks with initiative. Requires a high level of attention to detail as the figures you are responsible for monitoring are used to present to senior partners and execs.

  • There is a lot of susport to aid you in performing your role. As long as you alert colelagues if you are struglling or need help, they will take some responsibilties to aid you in your roles or make your tasks easier and more efficient.

  • 5. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • Very inclusive and friendly atmosphere, office culture is lively and active with a vareity of teams to interact and socialise. Everyone is here to help ensure you succeed.

    Your Impressions

  • 6. To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
  • I enjoyed it somewhat as the role I was in was quite limited and mundane. However, the people I have met and the experience I have gained completing this role has been significant and I have gained a great amount of knowledge completing this and an insight into working life. A placement is what you make of it, you will need to be proactive to gain as much out of your placement as possible.

  • Be proactive, roles and jobs are not assigned if you have capacity, you need to reach out if you want to experience other aspects of IBM and potential roles you are interested and engage in the training and time commitments to enable this.
