    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • PLEASE NOTE: This review was for a placement at General Motors prior to the amalgamation of Vauxhall and General Motors (The RateMyPlacement Team) I have really enjoyed my year as it has been great to experience a real life working environment. However, although given a full role, with real responsibilities, I feel like I could have been more challenged.

    3/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I felt welcome from the very start, everybody has been fantastic and super friendly, always willing to help. I felt valued, as I was doing an important role, that could not have been done without a placement student to fill the position.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Management were always on hand to help me with any day to day issues that arose. I had 3 personal placement reviews, which helped me to identify areas of weakness and seek advice on how to improve.

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Each day for me was different - which was a good thing!! However, although some days I was very very busy, some days were fairly quiet.

    3/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given a vast amount of responsibility during my placement. I felt like I really made a difference to the workplace and contributed a great deal.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Although my placement was not directly related to my degree, some elements of my degree programme became evident in this real world multinational organisation. I have developed my time-keeping, organisational and communication skills and feel like I have developed invaluable self-awareness and confidence.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
