    Support & Guidance

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • I received an amazing amount of support from the various colleagues I worked with. I would say, your experience is very dependant on the line manager you have. It's important that line managers are chosen carefully externally within Unilever, as it is a huge company and can easily lead to isolation. This personally had a direct affect on my growth during the start of my placement. It took a while for me to have the confidence to reach out for support.

    Culture

  • 5. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • The company culture was great. I would say, it very much differs team to team though. I know a lot of placement students who had amazing support and general atmosphere from their teams. It's important the right leaders are chosen for placement students to allow the correct atmospher4ef for them to grow, make mistakes and learn (with patience and respect from line managers, that growth area are going to be more common than non).

  • 8. What advice would you give to others applying to Unilever
  • Be yourself - it's all that matters! I think it's hard to apply yourself to a professional role as a student, but remember this is an experience for you to grow and learn. Turn up to your applications with hope and confidence, be yourself, and stand for what you believe in (whether thats sustainability, animals, interests etc).
