    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • The amount of work that you take on is pretty self driven. You find a project to work on, shadow on the calls for that project, complete separate tasks known as "giveback", and have time to spend on self-learning.

    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • My programming's better and I have some understanding of enterprise related software.

    Support & Guidance

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • There's not really an official onboarding for the scheme I'm on, so it took a few months of piecing things together just from calls with other employees.

  • 4/5

  • How would you rate the support and guidance from the wider team?
  • 4/5

    Culture

  • 5. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • There seems to be a lot of grievances against the company, and a definite sense fo hopelessness that it's impossible for things to get better. IBM is a corporation and decisions on how we work are made by people we'll never even meet, so complaining about them is impossible to an extent.

  • How would you rate the inclusiveness of the culture?
  • 4/5

  • How would you rate the social opportunities?

    Your Impressions

  • 6. To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
  • I didn't really enjoy this placement. IBM feels like the peak of mindless corporate culture and its made me reconsider studying Computer Science. Your job feels absolutely meaningless, as does the jobs of everyone around you. It feels like contribute absolutely nothing to society.
