    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • My primary responsibilities include, managing timesheets and liaising with the delivery team to ensure their accuracy, as well as performing the Contract Change Notes analysis across the entire programme. Additionally, I refreshed and updated the SOW plans weekly to ensure these are all up to date. I also assisted with managing the security clearance and onboarding processes for new resources to the account. Throughout my placement I also supported all the invoicing processes in the account.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • By performing CCN analysis on Excel, I have deeply enhanced my skills. I have also learnt to use tools such as Jira/Confluence, Mural, Trello and Miro. I have further developed my presentation and communication skills by presenting in the WTC Townhall. I have also learnt about Agile, Garage, Enterprise Design Thinking and Consulting by doing the IBM badges.

  • I have been given much responsibility as I have owned processes on my own that are crucial for the client to save millions of pounds.

  • I have received an outstanding amount of support from my manager as well as from other people from the wider team. I have always been able to reach out to people with any issue and they have always been really helpful.

    Culture

  • 5. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • The company culture at IBM is impressive. In my account, I have helped lead the People Board. In this group, we help progress initiatives such as volunteering events, socials, team learning hours and team awards, which are really appreciated by people and boost confidence.

    Your Impressions

  • 6. To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
  • I really enjoyed my placement. I have learnt about consulting and I have also been able to find more opportunities outside my role. I have also been able to travel to client offices in Edinburgh which has made the experience very unique.

  • Be confident, IBM is very good at finding new opportunities for you to learn and succeed. You have tons of resources to expand your knowledge in different areas. Also, you will have a big intern community to lean on that it is really helpful throughout the year.
