    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
  • As a participant in the Teach First Taster Programme, I was able to gain valuable insight into the teaching profession and experience Teach First's training programme. The programme lasted for two days and was structured to give me a taste of what it's like to teach in a challenging school environment. On the first day, participants had the opportunity to participate in workshops that focused on developing key skills such as communication and leadership. I found the workshops very helpful and informative, as they helped me to better understand what it takes to become a successful teacher. On the second day, I was able to put the skills I learned on the first day into practice by taking part in a mock lesson. This was a great opportunity for me to receive feedback and guidance from experienced Teach First staff and participants, and to gain a better understanding of what it's like to teach in a real classroom.

    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • As a participant in the Teach First Taster Programme, I had the opportunity to learn new skills and develop existing ones. The workshops that I participated in were focused on developing key skills such as communication, leadership, and teamwork. These were all skills that I knew were important for a successful teacher, but I was able to develop them further through the programme. I was also able to observe lessons taught by experienced Teach First participants, which gave me a better understanding of what makes a good teacher. This helped me to develop my own teaching skills and gave me ideas for how I could be an effective teacher in the future. The mock lesson that I participated in was an excellent opportunity for me to put the skills I learned into practice and receive feedback on my teaching. This feedback was invaluable, as it helped me to identify areas where I could improve and gave me the confidence to continue developing my teaching skills. Overall, the Teach First Taster Programme helped me to develop a range of skills that are essential for success in the teaching profession, including communication, leadership, teamwork, and teaching skills. These skills will not only be valuable if I choose to pursue a career in education but also in many other professions that require strong interpersonal and communication skills.

    Business Insight

  • 3. What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
  • As a participant in the Teach First Taster Programme, I was able to gain insight into Teach First's mission to address educational inequality in the UK. While the programme was focused on providing insight into the teaching profession rather than the business side of Teach First, I did have the opportunity to learn more about the organization and its values. During the programme, I was able to meet with Teach First staff and participants, who shared their experiences and provided insights into the different roles available within the organization. This gave me a better understanding of the different career paths available within Teach First and the skills and qualifications required for different roles.
