Overview
The 2-day taster programme gave me the opportunity to understand Teach First more as an organisation and what their visions are. It emphasised a lot on personal development and self-evaluation, and I was able to learn some useful presentation & debate as well as teaching skills, and put them into practice in a 6-minute teaching episode and received feedback on how to improve. It was a very valuable experience.
Skills
Yes. I learnt some useful teaching skills such as how to break down a concept and make it easier to understand for students, and how to structure a lesson from start to end. I was able to apply these in the teaching episode and it helped me gain confidence.
Business Insight
The taster programme provided useful information on future opportunities and roles, such as the application process for the training programme, which I am very likely to apply for.
Culture
The general atmosphere was very friendly and chill.
Your Impressions
I enjoyed it a lot. I was able to learn a lot and develop my own skills, as well as meeting some very nice people who I am likely to keep in touch with.
Yes
I would say definitely apply for the taster programme before the training programme to see if you enjoy teaching and if it is the right thing for you, Also, by attending the taster programme, it gives you a fast track if you later decide to apply for the training programme!
