Overview
Took part in sessions highlighting problems faced within the industry of teaching and education and how these are being focussed on by professionals. Diversifying the curriculum, educational inequality, problems amongst teachers and STEM were key areas. We also had a variation of practical sessions in which transferrable skills key to teaching were taught and developed upon; sessions such as formulating debates and planning lessons gave a realistic insight of what teaching involves.
Skills
Interaction and confidence in displaying thoughts and concerns around a prevalent topic were definitely developed in the taster session as participants were encouraged to present opinions on issues within education. The skill of presenting was developed through the opportunity to create and deliver a lesson to a group of other participants to prepare for what teaching in a classroom would involve.

It was motivating to learn that it is possible to progress into the likes of senior leadership through hard work and passion, and that teaching actually provides an individual with skills extremely sought after in many other career paths, such as recruitment, accounting and businesses.
Culture
Passion and love for their work was very clear amongst the leaders taking the sessions. Such a genuine interest in their field created a motivating atmosphere which enticed into taking as much from the sessions as possible.
