Overview
I took part in the Women in Leadership learning about Teach First’s involvement with disadvantaged schools and the manifesto. We also explored the graduate programme along with essential skills it teaches. There was lots of chance for us to give our own ideas and discussion.
Skills
Lots! Teaching skills through Doug Lemov’s method and leadership skills for life.
Business Insight
Really interesting to explore options within Teach First and whether the programme was right for me. I like how because it was a taster programme they explored other options and had an ambassador who had done Teach First and how those skills allowed her to progress to a role of leadership within her current career.
Culture
Incredibly welcoming and i thought the environment would be a lot more intense. What struck me was the community and passion within the organisation as well as networks it has created.
Your Impressions
Although it was challenging teaching a lesson I enjoyed the programme so much and came away feeling incredibly inspired and empowered particularly by the speakers but equally by my conversations with other trainees.
Yes
Just apply particularly if you want to explore whether the graduate scheme would be right for you! The taster programmes are there not only if you are interested in teaching but a developed so many other skills as well and learnt so much.
