Overview
On day one of the program we were welcomed by the program leads and the CEO of TeachFirst where they shared their vision. Next we completed a presentation and debate task where we prepared arguments in small teams, before finishing the day with another key note speaker. Day two was quite similar to before, where we were able to build on the skills we had learnt the day before to create and present a lesson.
Skills
I learnt about some of the skills that teachers use to create successful and efficient lessons which I was not aware of before and hope to apply to later teaching opportunities. Also the ability to discuss important educational problems that are going on today with a group of people and to try and come up with creative solutions.
Business Insight
It was extremely eye opening as I was unaware of the number of partner companies Teach First had in there network. Additionally, for some of my colleagues it was a good first hand experience as to what teaching is really like and how to make a difference with the education system.
Culture
The atmosphere was friendly which made it very easy to network with people of similar backgrounds. We were catered for the whole two days and I think this also massively helped to boost the atmosphere on both days.
Your Impressions
I really enjoyed this insight - it showed how you can make a difference to the education system in the classroom and beyond, even after teaching which I was fully aware of. Additionally it showed bow many different organizations and companies are all pulling together to achieve the same goal, which was impressive.
