    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
  • We would listen to presentations about how to improve a particular skill as well as how this would relate to the classroom. We would then do an activity that put this skill into practice. Also, on one of the days we did a debate about a topic relating to how best to educate children and on the other we planned and performed our own 6 minute lessons, before getting feedback from a professional and peers.

    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I learnt how to engage pupils in a classroom and how best to present information so that they remember it. I also learnt how the process of planning a lesson worked and which things you must decide when doing this. Moreover, I found out how to make sure children actually did understand what the lesson was about. Additionally, I was taught what makes a good leader in the classroom.

    Your Impressions

  • 5. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • Being able to teach my own lesson and get feedback from a professional was really useful. It was also very helpful to watch others give their lessons, as I can see as the student which things are good and which things are bad about their lessons. I thought the debate section was a bit rushed however, as we did not have that much preparation time. Overall, it was a very useful couple of days.
