    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of the virtual internship and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
  • While at the internship you complete a 3-week condensed Website Development course in partnership with Code First Girls (CFG) where you work in teams to create a website based on a broad theme which you present in the final week to Accenture employers and CFG instructors. Additionally you get to do a Q&A with current graduates and employees to get an understanding about the different roles within the company and about the company culture.

    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Personally this experience allowed me to develop my presentation, organisational and team work skills through the web development project and through the charity day which we also completed. It also allowed me to develop my confidence in a virtual space as meeting in person vs via a screen is so different. There was plenty of opportunities to ask questions and learn from the other interns and created this sense of community.

    Business Insight

  • 3. What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
  • Accenture provided a lot of networking opportunities throughout the internship and guest speakers which were employees in various roles within the company. These talks were beneficial due to the differing roles from software engineering to technology MD. Gaining knowledge and real life examples of individual journey's gave a brilliant oversight into the roles expectations too. Most employees also spoke about the highs and lows within the company which is great for context and relatability.

    Culture

  • 4. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • From the start you could tell the company promotes diversity, inclusion and belonging. For me this was essential as it provided a safe space for individuals to belong. This internship was solely for those who identified as female and through pre-joiner events and after work socials our group became really close. Everyone we spoke to at Accenture was also so friendly so I would say the general atmosphere was very welcoming.

    Your Impressions

  • 5. To what extent did you enjoy the virtual internship?
  • I really enjoyed myself! Having the opportunity to speak to likeminded, diverse and intelligent women while learning new skills was fantastic. You could tell that the team that put this internship together had put a lot of work into making this experience matter and making us feel valued. There was such a variety of things to do and help was always there so I couldn't recommend it enough.

  • 8. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Accenture
  • It may be cliché but take your time and be yourself. The first digital assessment isn't timed to don't feel rushed when you complete it and re read questions if you're unsure what they are asking. With the assessment centre Accenture are looking for individuals that show a passion for technology and are themselves. Everyone is different which is great - show your individualism because that is how we get diverse companies!
