Overview
7 and 8 hour days (2 day taster in total). Involved a mix of presentations from current TeachFirst employees as well as lots of interactive discussion tasks and small group tasks including teaching a mini lesson.
Skills
Really helped to build on interactive people skills through a debate and presenting a lesson in front of people, and created a welcoming space to do so. New classroom management techniques learnt and implemented.
Business Insight
Potential roles and the company aims very clearly detailed and easy to understand. Also had discussion tasks on these topics so we interacted even more with these subjects, making them very clear.
Culture
Was a very warm and friendly atmosphere. Had a welcome webinar and icebreakers, plus randomly allocated groups to help you get to know everyone. Leaders join in with discussions and make it very easy to ask questions. Had to do a couple of presentation tasks but this was broken down into smaller groups which made you feel much more comfortable in doing so.
Your Impressions
Enjoyed the taster to a great extent as there was a wide range of activities and the day was broken up with regular breaks and food to keep energy going, making it easy to follow and participate.
Yes
I would advise people to look at the TeachFirst aims and competencies when applying as this is a big focus of theirs when looking at applications and throughout the taster.
