    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • My role involved leading UX/UI design and prototyping, as well as participating in a ML/NLP project. I was in continuous communication with many colleagues, from business analysts to developers and clients for the former project, while for the latter was involved in pair programming and study sessions.

    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • Very much so. I have greatly developed my design skills, in particular due to the higher focus on UI and a unique opportunity to work with all members of a production flow. For the ML and NLP project, as well as an Intern Group Project, I had the brilliant opportunity to learn a variety of computing-related skills, including improving my Python programming, ML flow understanding and front end development.

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • Yes, I am infinitely grateful for the opportunities that I have been provided, and the trust put in me by my colleagues. Overseeing a process from design stage to production is incredible, and stems from the fact that I was given the chance to have higher responsibility.

    Support & Guidance

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • As much as I needed. My team and my mentors were always ready to help, would always answer my questions and minimise my confusions. I was on-boarded effectively, and throughout my internship learned from those in my team and beyond.

    Culture

  • 5. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • I have greatly enjoyed it, as I am someone who appreciates structure and respect for strong work ethic and professionalism. Genuine respect, outgoing demeanour and expertise of those in the organisation is astounding, and I felt like I found a professional home. It is amazing to walk across a floor and see innovation, see collaboration and see amazing ideas come to life.

    Your Impressions

  • 6. To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
  • I think there are not enough words to describe just how much I enjoyed this internship - I got to lead, to learn, to collaborate, and more! It all exceeded my expectations and I am beyond grateful for the experience. Looking back and how much I knew before, and what kind of a worker generally I was before compared to now, I have grown so much and thanks to this internship I have discovered myself professionally.

  • 7. Would you recommend Deutsche Bank to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 8. What advice would you give to others applying to Deutsche Bank
  • The main thing I would say is to be true to oneself, and not to position yourself as having different skills to the ones you actually have. To thrive means to feel passion for what you are doing, and straying away from your interests and capabilities spells disaster. If you have the opportunity to go to interviews, really express what you are proud of, and what unique points you can bring to Deutsche Bank.
