  • 1. Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
  • The days would often start with early networking sessions, meeting a diverse group of professionals and peers. Sometimes some personal development workshops led by external experts, gaining unique professional skills. Throughout the day, enjoyed division-specific talks from bank employees and industry experts, offering a comprehensive view of banking operations. Breaks and meals provided a great chance to reflect and mingle.

  • I've significantly honed my networking skills, engaging more effectively with both peers and professionals. My understanding of banking and the interplay between its different divisions has deepened as well as my ability to draw concise, insightful conclusions from complex information. Additionally, my presentation and listening skills have improved alongside my punctuality, enhancing both my personal and professional growth.

    Business Insight

  • 3. What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
  • Initially uncertain about which banking division suited me, this experience provided clarity. I arrived with a broad interest in banking but left with a well-defined path, understanding not just my preferred division but also how others operate and their interconnections. This newfound knowledge has sharpened my focus and aligned my career aspirations more closely with my skills and interests.

    Culture

  • 4. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • The company culture was positive, open, and inclusive, fostering an environment where everyone felt welcome. Despite the constructive competitive nature, especially within some Investment Banking divisions, all staff were friendly and accommodating. Learning about the various Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) was enlightening, as it underscored the company's commitment to ensuring every employee can find a group to identify with or support as an ally.

    Your Impressions

  • 5. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • I thoroughly enjoyed the insight; it was interactive, informative, and offered a comprehensive view of the banking sector. The feeling of being in such an establishment moreover deserving to be there was great and really instilled the idea that I can make it to somewhere like here in the future. Albeit the days were longer than I was used to, which at times was tiring, the knowledge gained and connections made felt incredibly rewarding.

  • Just be honest in what you say about yourself and don't be worried about matching up to the technical competencies of your peers as it gives you the opportunity to ask more, learn more and leave a positive impression to professionals you speak with and may work with in the future.
