    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • I had 2 rotations (Investment/Actuarial consulting and Insurance and Longevity consulting) which both involved different things. I had to communicate with clients, set up meetings, produce and check transfer values, update databases with asset allocations and valuations, sit in on meetings, produce meeting reports, create and update spreadsheets and complete some assessed tasks

  • I've developed many interpersonal and technical skills: - using excel; including developing my shortcut skills - communication - professional email writing - problem solving - analytical skills - self correction

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • Yes! I have been allowed to work with and contact real clients, and a majority of the work we have done has been client related. The only thing that I've done that hasn't been of use to the firm is the assessments.

  • I am very much encouraged to ask questions and I have a mentor in each area that I have worked in, so I would say the support is absolutely amazing!

    Culture

  • 5. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • Everyone has been really kind and supportive, and made themselves available to talk to when you have a question. They are also keen to go above and beyond to help you and made all the interns feel very comfortable. This was backed up by the socials that they held (which is a regular thing at the company)

  • Be you! They are interested in your personality and what you personally can bring to the team. The office is very friendly, so don't be shy to ask any questions. The assessment centre is mainly for seeing how you think, so don't be too concerned about getting the answers exactly correct.
