    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I really enjoyed my time at Vauxhall, met a lot of great people and taught many things that will be very useful in later working life

  • I got given a lot of responsibillity and had a lot of different projects to work on.

  • There was a very good structure at Vauxhall and had plenty of Support from my managers

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • My workload was a very good amount, I alway had tasks to get on with and never bored. My role included developing the HR Intranet website which always could be improved upon

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given a lot of responsibillity in regards to my projects and the trust I was given. I was travelling across the UK giving presentations and promoting the Undergraduate Programme.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I have developed lots of skills especially in relation to Microsoft Excel and problem solving. I also learned other things about my self and things to improve upon

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • I had a good team that were very easy to talk to.

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • There is a set structure of how the year will go at Vauxhall and with 108 Undergraduates there is clear processes in place to make sure everything is organised thoroughly.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I received many different types of training, including Targeted Selection Interviewing, Safe Driving, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Sharepoint, Presentation and all other relating to my job

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I am not sure as this changes every year. But they take their Graduates from their Undergraduate pool.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Very good social scene with over 80 UG's in the Bedfordshire area there was lots of activities going on. I lived in a mansion with 9 others during my time there and we had some great nights out and trips.

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Luton is quite cheap to live in my rent including bills in the said above mansion was £330, relatively cheap for the qualitiy of house

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Luton wasnt the best night out but there are a lot of good places around for example Milton Keynes and Watford and also London is only a 25 minute train.

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • We had lots of activities outside of work, there was company 5-a-side twice a week, a weekend foorball and rugby team to get involved in. There is a gym next door. Plus we could go to London easily so there is plenty of stuff to do.
