  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • Recapture and catalogue VMs when clients are finished with them. Transfer Images onto VMs at the clients request. Ensure VMs are connectable for clients.

  • I have learnt and developed my technical skills around Virtual machines, different operating systems such as Linux and Windows and programming languages. I have also developed skills around working with clients and within a technical team.

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • I was given full responsibility within my role with dealing with the deployment, availability and accessibility of all the virtual environments. I was able to contact clients directly and left to manage and deal with issues they may face alone; help was provided when I reached out to members of the team. The team and role gave me complete freedom in completing my day to day tasks and responsibilities allowing me to develop skills quickly.

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • I received support and guidance from my Foundation Manager, Task manager, Team manager and from the team I worked in. Everyone in IBM is happy to help you in an issues you have as well as direct you to the best place to receive support and guidance. There is plenty of support given to interns throughout the year.

  • IBM offers a wide variety of social groups for employees to be a part of. There is something for everyone. IBMers are extremely approachable and friendly. It is a great environment to work within.

  • I really enjoyed my time at IBM, I learnt a lot, made great connections and got to experience many new opportunities. It was a year that has given me a lot to take into my future career.
