    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
  • Most of my time was spent listening in on conversations between my principal and clients, working on assigned tasks, carrying out trainee tasks for my principal, attending talks on practice areas and the firm as a whole, and talking to the firm's employees on a more informal basis. Overall, I feel as though I got a thorough insight into the firm and the work it does, and how the culture has affects its employees.

    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I feel as though I have developed my public speaking skills, as well as developed my understanding of both the wording of certain clauses and the underlying commercial motivations. I have also developed my IT skills, becoming more proficient in Microsoft Excel.

    Culture

  • 4. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • I found that there was a universal open-door policy. Lawyers, no matter their seniority, were always happy to set aside time to talk to you, despite often being incredibly pressed for time. I feel as though the culture is very supportive, with colleagues frequently checking in with each other. The firm also offers more structured support to those under pressure.
