  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • My role was the work with candidates applying for the graduate scheme and moving all applications through the process. Later in the year I was heavily involved in the logistics of setting up and running assessment centres.

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • Yes. I was given a lot of responsibility and a lot of freedom within my role. This allowed my to work in ways that suited me and helped to develop many different skills. I took accountability for work that was under par but was also recognised when my work was of a good quality

  • I received constant guidance. My team were always providing me with support but I also found a huge amount of help from people in other areas of the business when I reached out. I found there was a culture of growth and supporting others

    Culture

  • 5. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • I really enjoyed the atmosphere at the company. Although the work was often intense mistakes were met with support rather than derision. As well as this there were a large number of interns at the company, meaning that there was a great social element to my year.

  • I enjoyed my internship and have developed hugely as a person and as a professional. I would recommend a placement to anyone and would definitely recommend IBM as a great destination for a placement year
