    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
  • The insight allowed me to learn more about Deutsche Bank, its divisions and employee resource groups (ERGs). There were lots of different presentations- the first day was an overview of the bank, as well as an introduction to finance, financial markets and banking. The second day was a bit more relaxed with plenty of breaks and a group tasks for creating a promotional video. The last day covered the different divisions at the bank.

    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • This experience definitely encouraged me to be more communicative with both the presenters and speakers, as well as with my peers. I also improved my business acumen and financial knowledge, as the sessions were very informative. One of the other sessions I really enjoyed was about self-confidence in the workplace and creating a personal brand, and I really feel like I managed to improve these.

    Business Insight

  • 3. What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
  • It felt slightly overwhelming at first since there are so many different divisions and teams at Deutsche Bank, but that means that there is a role for everyone. On the last day, there was a division overview followed by a Q&A, and that allowed me to clear any doubts about each role- the analysts were so nice and welcoming!

    Culture

  • 4. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • The company seems to really put emphasis on integrity and doing the right thing for the client to ensure a long-term mutually beneficial relationship & that was something that stood out to me. Moreover, I enjoyed the session on employee resource groups (ERGs) such as DBWomen or DBProud. I got the impression that there is really a friendly atmosphere in the bank, and no toxic competitiveness.

    Your Impressions

  • 5. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • I enjoyed all of the presentations, sessions and activities! It was very well-organised, and they made sure we had plenty of breaks during the day. I learnt a great deal about the finance industry and the different roles at Deutsche Bank and I now have a clearer idea of what I would like my career to look. At the beginning of the third day we also had mock-interviews and the feedback I received really helped me see how prepared I was for an actual summer internship interview.

  • 7. Would you recommend Deutsche Bank to a friend?

  • 8. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Deutsche Bank
  • I would advise anyone to apply to any of the programmes that Deutsche Bank offers, as this experience was invaluable to me, and I am sure my peers can say the same. The application process is not that difficult and it is 100% worth it. The advice I would give would be to be open-minded and explore the different opportunities and roles at the bank, instead of choosing the most mainstream career path (investment banking).
